Lisa BrosnanFamily Nurse Practitioner, DNP, FNP-BC
Biography
Lisa received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Syracuse University. After 15 years of working as a registered nurse in various hospital settings, she went on to receive a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Elms College and her certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Lisa believes that nursing is more than a career – it’s a calling. Her mother and grandmother were both nurses, so she thinks it might be in her DNA! Lisa is a caregiver at heart, and when she became a nurse many years ago, her intention was to have a career where she could help take care of others during some of the most challenging times in their lives. She believes that nurse practitioners are unique in that they focus not only on disease management and prevention, but they also approach healthcare quite holistically and devote a great deal of time to patient education. As a nurse practitioner here at WSU, Lisa uses her education and experience to help students navigate the healthcare system, handle healthcare challenges, and live healthier lives. She feels privileged to provide care to the students here at WSU. She finds their energy and enthusiasm to be contagious and feels that it helps her stay young (or young at heart!). Although it has been awhile since she was in college, she still remembers the stresses and challenges of college life. Helping students navigate these challenges and manage their health concerns is so rewarding. Plus, she gets to work with an amazing and dedicated group of providers who make it fun to come to work every day! In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage boys, traveling, reading, listening to music, and spending time with her pets.
